I am a Finnish woman whose name is Kati, a.k.a. unikeko, and I was born in Helsinki in 1974.

I have always liked animals and that's why I wanted to be a veterinarian. In High School I realised it was impossible because I understood nothing about mathematics, chemistry or physics, and I didn't even like any of these subjects. I decided that, since I like foreign languages, I would go to university to study more English, German, and Swedish. Somehow, however, it just happened that I never went to university, but started to work. Nowadays I work in a kiosk.

When I was a little girl, we had guinea pigs, one male, one female and their four babies. I also had some fish, which I kept in small jars made of plastic. Then, for some years, we had no pets until I got a female hamster from my friend. A bit later I got a male and of course I wanted them to have a litter of hamster babies. Soon I had quite a lot of hamsters... Some were babies of my own hamsters and some I got from my friends.

During the years I have had golden hamsters (short- and long haired, rex and satin), Chinese and Russian dwarf hamsters (also roborowskis), rats, mice, spiny mice, dormice, more fish, chinchillas, gerbils, rats, budgies, stick insects and one Eastern garter snake. I have never had dogs or cats until now.
